MEDICAL RECORD FIELD REVIEWER

REGARDING THE POSITION: 
 
The Project/Study the Field Reviewer would be hired is titled “HEDIS or PIA.”  HEDIS, Healthcare Effectiveness Data Information Set is a review “Report Card” for the Health Plans to ensure they are providing the quality care and services to the members they insure.  PIA, Payment Integrity Audit ensures that Health Plans are billing correctly through the Centers for Medicare Medicaid.
 
We hire RNs, LPNs, Certified Coders, RHIT or RHIA, Medical Assistants, Certified Nursing Assistants and other healthcare professionals to work as Medical Record Reviewers (Field Reviewers).  We also consider Medical Records Professionals that have a minimum of two (2) years hands on medical records experience, EMR/EHR experience a plus. 
 
Field Reviewers visit physicians' offices to retrieve and review specific requested documents from medical records.  A Field Reviewer Advocate is assigned to help plan daily activities and manage work flow. Altegra Health will schedule and confirm appointments to ensure efficiency.  Computer equipment is provided for scanning charts and transferring files to our secure file transfer site.  Help Desk assistance for both IT support and medical record retrieval support is available. Summary of Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Visit physicians' offices to retrieve and review specific requested documents from medical records
  • Scan relevant components of the medical record to support reviews performed
  • Upload scanned medical records daily
  • Maintain communication lines with Altegra Health Advocate
  • Successfully complete required training, testing and quality assessments
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with care provider offices, clinics, hospitals, other clinical facilities (Must be willing to travel within a forty (40) mile radius)
  • Abide by all HIPAA and associated patient confidentiality requirements
  • Valid Driver's License & Auto Insurance
  • Availability of at least 24 hours per week during business hours; Monday-Friday 8am-5pm
  • Business attire required

Altegra’s Scheduling Team and a Field Reviewer Advocate assigned will help plan your daily schedule.  We provide computer equipment for chart scanning and file transferal (laptop, scanner and flash drive).  We provide help desk assistance for both IT and medical record retrieval support.

We pay competitive wages as well as provide opportunities for end of project incentives.  We also provide thorough training in the use of our technology, processes, documents to be scanned or copied, and HIPAA confidentiality requirements for protected health information.

 
Duties and Responsibilities
  • Accurately and efficiently manage paper medical records, or an EHR/EMR platform to retrieve information
  • Scan relevant components of the medical record to support reviews performed
  • Upload extracted medical records per assignment
  • Maintain consistent communication lines with advocate
  • Successfully complete required training, testing and quality assessments
  • Communicate effectively and professionally with care provider offices, clinics, hospitals, other clinical facilities
  • Travel to medical facilities or provider offices in specified areas to complete review services
  • Abide by all HIPAA and associated patient confidentiality requirements
 
Job Requirements
  • Must be an RN, LPN, LVN, Certified Coder, RHIT, RHIA, CNA, MA or Medical Records professional with a minimum of 2 years hands on medical records and or EHR/EMR experience based on the type of knowledge you have and the health plans we are currently working
  • Strong computer skills and high-speed internet access at home (no dial-up)
  • Reliable transportation, auto insurance and valid driver's license
  • Commitment to confidentiality of patient health information
  • Professional, articulate and able to work independently
  • Availability at least 24 hours per week during business hours
  • Ability to manage and meet deadlines
  • Must be willing to travel within a 40 mile radius
  • Business attire is required when visiting physician offices
  • Must have a working cell phone, printer and home computer
